Congenital conditions are those occuring from birth. Congential conditions causing deafness include:

  • Rubella syndrome
  • Congenital atresia of the external auditory canal
  • Congenital cytomegalovirus
  • Congenital perilymphatic fistula
  • Fetal methyl mercury effects
  • Fetal iodine deficiency effects
