Communication with Deaf & Hard of Hearing People

There are a variety of communication methods used with and by Deaf and Hard of Hearing people, and different schools of thought regarding various approaches of communication.
For example:

Oral Methods? which rely on auditory training, such as:

Bi-lingualism? - the use of a native sign language, such as Auslan with written English
